The Declaration of Independence or also known as the spirit of our country was a document created by the American and Great Britain to grant freedom and land to the Americans which was knowns as the 13 colonials. The American Dream was protected by the Declaration of independence for many reasons. one reason is because American had life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. the phrase pursuit of happiness is an person or family that's in a good state and satisfied with their life. In the writing, " The Pursuit of Happiness: What the Founders Meant—And Didn't" written by Kathleen Kennedy Townsend it states," I think you have to break it down to people who have some advantages, and those who are just trying to survive and have their family survive. If you have enough to eat, for instance, I think basically it's to make a contribution to those who are less well off. 'I complained because I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet." This quote is so interesting because he is basically saying the pursuit of happiness can be what a person makes out of it. ReplyDeleteThe Declaration of Independence was created to protect the freedom and rights of the American people from the tyranny of England. It was established in 1776 to establish the 13 original colonies as their own independent nation called the United States of America. The American Dream is protected in the declaration of independence, 3 ways its protected is, one that all men are created equal, two every individual has the god given right to live, be free, and own property and three when the government fails to protect our rights, we as the people have the responsibility to instate new government. The pursuit of happiness was stated in the declaration alongside of life and liberty. As Kathleen Kennedy Stated in the article, “I complained because I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet,” meaning that the pursuit of happiness is that whatever satisfies you in your life, is your own made happiness and it is what you make of it, and what you contribute to others to allow them happiness is the true meaning of pursuit of happiness. Aristotle defined happiness as “the full use of one’s talents along the lines of excellence.” It is believed that you attained happiness, not through the goods you accumulated, or in the privacy of your life, but through what you did for the publics good. The American dream and the pursuit of happiness co-exist, because the American dream stemmed from the declaration and the American dream is the freedom to create your own way of life no matter how it is accomplished.

ReplyDeleteThe declaration of independence was written and signed in 1776 to declare our independence from the British. It was written to ensure freedom for the American people and not to repeat what was being done by the king. People didn’t want tyranny so much that they wrote the declaration and were willing to fight and die for freedom. People freedom so written in the declaration was put that “all men are created equal that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights” among the unalienable rights are life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Written in the declaration where these five freedoms that were the basis for all freedoms in this country 1all men re created equal, 2 our rights come from god, 3 every individual has the god given right to live be free and own property, 4 the purpose of government is to protect our god given rights, 5 when government fails to protect our rights we have the responsibility to instate new government. After all this I believe that that the American dream is protected by the declaration of independence.

The declaration is a document written and signed in 1776 that proclaimed the independence of America from England and established 13 initial colonies in the United States of America as their own independent republic. For many reasons, the American Dream was protected by the Declaration of Independence like All men are created equal, every individual has the God-given right to live, be free and own property and we also have the responsibility to establish a fresh government when the government fails to protect our God-given rights. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend's article "The Pursuit of Happiness-What the Founders Meant and Didn't" gives us a specific idea of how individuals can easily get the second type of happiness. As Kennedy's idea, she claims that it is easy to get happiness for people who participate in their communities & governments. In my opinion, the people who want to play a role in society need to be a positive individual because they want to dedicate their time and energy to community and society.

The Declaration of Independence, written and signed in 1776, claims the 13 British colonies in America are to be independent as the now United States of America. Terms like "all men are created equal" and everyone having the right to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" protects the American Dream. It does so by ridding Americans of a tyrannical, sometimes oppressive government to allow them to express their God given rights. The term "the pursuit of happiness" means to pursue what makes oneself feel fulfilled. Working hard, buying a home, buying a car, starting a family, traveling the world, all examples of ways one can feel fulfilled under the freedoms Americans have. Also, as the article above says, people will feel happy when able to take part of their government and make the laws as the community sees fit. The pursuit of happiness can mean many things and be expressed in many ways, but they all relate to the American Dream.

ReplyDeleteA declaration was written and signed on July 4, 1776, declaring America as an independent nation and confirming 13 colonies as their own independent nation. There are five main ideas behind the declaration of independence which shows it clearly protects the American dream for people having their own freedom to live the life they dreamt of.
1 All men are created equal.
2 Our rights come from God.
3 Every Individual has the God-Given right to live, be free, & own property.
4 The purpose of government is to protest our god given rights.
5 When government fails to protect our rights we have the responsibility to institute a new government.
The Phrase pursuit of happiness means that one has every right to live his own life in a way that brings him joy. In relation to the American dream, the pursuit of happiness means these indescribable rights: life, freedom and the pursuit for happiness provide the basis for any person to seek what makes them happy and not subject to constraints as all human beings are created equal. In connection with the willingness of the people of America to be viewed, this determines what the American dream is.

ReplyDeleteThe Declaration of Independence was written and signed in 1776. This claimed America's independence while establishing the 13 initial colonies, which is the United the States of America. Before America's independence, England controlled the thirteen colonies through tyranny. The American Dream is protected by the Declaration of independence for several reasons. First, "All men are created equal." This proves that every human that lives in America has an opportunity to contribute to The United States. Second, "Our rights come from god," "every individual has the god-given right to live, be free, and own property, and "When the government fails to protect our rights, we can institute a new government." The Pursuit Of Happiness is defined as a right to live life in a way that makes you happy, without doing anything illegal. In the article, "The Pursuit Of Happiness" by Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, she states, "people who take part in their communities and governments are happier than people who don't." In my opinion, People that tend to give back to other people in need tend to live in a happier state of mind. This relates to the American dream because anybody has the opportunity to give back to their communities and try to live the best life they possibly could.

ReplyDeleteThe American Dream is the belief that purely coming to America will provide an individual with the best life. In addition, some believe that the American Dream is dependent on cumulative effort. The American Dream Is ensured by the Declaration of Independence. This is shown through God given rights; the right to live, be free, and own property, as well as stating the government’s purpose is to protect our God given rights. The phrase within the Declaration of Independence “the pursuit of happiness” means finding whatever makes that person have a successful life, in their view. According to “The Pursuit of Happiness: What the Founders Meant—And Didn't” by Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, the “pursuit of happiness” means participating in the government in order to better your life. Although participating in the government can increase your happiness, this is not the only aspect of living a happy life. A fulfilled life is composed of doing activities that make someone happy, such as, spending time with friends and family. Some people may associate happiness with the American Dream, therefore believing happiness can only originate from having the American Dream.

ReplyDeleteThe Declaration of Independence, written and signed in 1776, does protect the American Dream. It not only protects it but gives people the chance to strive to achieve the American Dream. Although the Founding Fathers didn't specifically design the Declaration of Independence to protect the American Dream, the Declaration has the contents that would protect the American Dream. That people have certain rights which includes Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Another main point written in the Declaration is that "All men are created equal". These points are what protects the American Dream and allows people the opportunity to try to achieve it, especially the "Pursuit of Happiness" and "All men are created equal" since these words mean that everyone is equal and they all have their own opportunity to fulfill their dreams. What is meant by "The Pursuit of Happiness" is that Americans can freely and joyfully live life. What this has in relation to the American Dream is that the "Pursuit of Happiness" supports the American Dream since the American Dream is all about achieving success and the "Pursuit of Happiness" allows you to achieve that dream.

ReplyDeleteThe Declaration of Independence of 1776 was a document created and put into place to declare the thirteen colonies there own independent nation. Which was to Establish the United States of America. It was created to ensure freedom from the king in Great Britain. The declaration of independence does in fact protect the ideology of the American dream the stating “commit to learning, not debating” and “respect one another‘s views and allow everyone the chance to speak “. The American dream is opportunities available to any American creating equal opportunity throughout. So in the declaration of independence it refers to everyone having their own say and their chance to speak resulting in equality in the government. Which correlates with the ideas of the American dream. The American dream also reflects in people wanting to do their own thing and be their own person with the same opportunity as the person next to them, and the declaration of independence while declaring as independent from the king it is creating the ideology that we have the opportunity to thrive as those do around us. The phrase “pursuit of happiness “ defines itself as fulfilling one’s needs to feel fulfillment. They say this and relayed this back to the declaration of independence because the way our government has been set up and will prosper is having those partake in government in order to feel fulfilled and in order to have say. Pursuit of happiness can be lots of different things in the eyes of many different people it could be as small as buying some thing from the store to obtaining a spot in the White House. Or fulfilling dreams like traveling the world or getting your dream job, but relating back to the declaration of independence this fulfillment of the pursuit of happiness is the impact those have and the role they play in society and in our government.

ReplyDeleteThrough the history of America, the declaration of independence has become a crucial part of the Americans lifestyle. The declaration of independence was written in 1776 that declared their independence from England. The declaration was written to ensure history does not repeat itself by one man in power (the king), England controlled the thirteen colonies through tyranny. To keep everything intact the people freedom was written the declaration, “all men are created equal that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights” with these rights came life liberty and pursuit of happiness that is distinguish by each person. Written in the declaration of independence were the five freedoms which where the crucial foundation that made up America. The first was “all men are created equal”, the second is “our rights come from god”, third “every individual has the god given right to live, to be free and own property. The fourth “the purpose of government is to protect our god given rights”. The fifth “when government fails to protect our rights, we have the responsibility to instate new government”. All these rights to our freedom entail that the American dream is protected by the declaration of independence to keep us from having our own individuality as well as happiness.

The American Dream is the idea that everyone can pursue their own version of success in a world where upward mobility is possible for all, regardless of where they are born or what class they are born into. The American Dream is accomplished, rather than by chance, by sacrifice, risk-taking, and hard work.It is not merely a dream of motor vehicles and high salaries, but a dream of social order in which each man and woman, regardless of the fortuitous circumstances of birth or place, would be able to aspire to the fullest stature of which they are innately capable, and be accepted by others for what they are.
The American Dream promises freedom and equality. It offers the freedom to make both the large and small decisions that affect one’s life.In the United States Declaration of Independence, "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" is a well-known expression. The phrase offers three examples of the unalienable rights that the Declaration says their creator has granted to all humans, and which governments are created to preserve. The American revolutionaries wanted their voice to be heard and to be part of the government. Their slogan, after all, was not "No taxation"—which today is such a common rallying cry—but "No taxation without representation." Representation was critical to happiness. The long recitation of complaints by the Founders set out the various ways in which they were unable to regulate their fate. They were subject to England, while they wished to be citizens of America.
What was the American dream really. Well the American dream is all about life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This saying of the American dream came around when the Colonies started to become upset with the rule of Britain being over them. They felt as though the king was ruining what they had truly went to America for. The people who came to the americas didn’t come just to colonize the land, they came to start their own new life. They came to be themselves so what they want to do and believe what they want to believe in and that is the true meaning of the pursuit of happiness. When the people felt like this was being taken from them they came together to do everything they could to get what they truly deserve. The Declaration of Independence was written in 1776 and was a document displaying all their reasoning for wanting to be free of the English rule. The Declaration of Independence addresses 5 main principles. 1.all men are created equal, 2. god is above all kings, 3.every person has the god given right of life, liberty, and the right to own property, 4.the government is supposed to protect our god given rights, and last but least 5. If the government does not do so we the people have the right to alter the government and form a new one. The declaration is just there to state that the people want to be free and live their lives happily ever after. The American dream is the pursuit of happiness doing whatever it take to make your life as good as possible and the Declaration of Independence helped to make that possible.
